“It wasn’t up to Laurent Wauquiez to announce it”deplores Tuesday, November 12 on franceinfo, Mathieu Lefèvre, deputy Ensemble for the Republic of Val-de-Marne and member of the finance committee of the National Assembly. Guest of TF1, Monday November 11, the president of the Republican Right group of deputies (ex-Les Républicains) in the National Assembly, Laurent Wauquiez, announced that he had found a compromise with the government so that “all retreats” are revalued from the “half of inflation” from January 1, with a second catch-up for the smallest six months later.

“I thought that the government governed and Parliament parliamented”castigates Mathieu Lefèvre. For him, it was “obviously it’s up to the government to announce it”. However, he is delighted because the Macronist deputies “fought against” the freezing of pensions. In its finance bill for 2025, the government proposed to postpone by six months, from January 1 to July 1, the indexation of pensions to inflation to save four billion euros out of the 60 billion in savings envisaged in the budget.

“Basically, I am delighted that pensions are being upgraded, particularly for the most modest” more “in terms of form, I’m surprised”declares Mathieu Lefèvre on franceinfo. “Everyone should not have small victories for themselves”, continues the elected representative from Ile-de-France. “That's not how parliamentary democracy works. What works is when we are collectively useful to the French. There, the French were missing the word 'collectively'”he concludes.
