In the new episode of The Smartest Person in the World tells actor Geert Van Rampelberg about a film he made ten years ago in Argentina. Although those recordings were made a long time ago, he still appears to be traumatized by them.
After six episodes, it’s over for Roosje Pertz The Smartest Person in the World. She lost the final game to Geert Van Rampelberg. So he can go through to tonight’s episode, together with day winner Daphne Agten.
Argentina
Although we mainly know Geert Van Rampelberg as an actor in Flemish films and series, he has also occasionally appeared in international productions in the past. This is how the Argentinian film came in 2015 The Red Earth out with him in the lead role. In that film, Van Rampelberg plays a Flemish man who works for a multinational in Argentina that is trying to accelerate the production of a pine forest with agrotoxic products. As a result, many children become ill, after which the locals turned against him.
However, the shooting of that film did not go ideally. It already started in the preparation. “I received a crash course in Spanish, after which I left deep in the jungle in Argentina. There I found out that they speak Portuñol there, a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese,” he explains.
The filming itself was also not without problems. “The director (Diego Martinez Vignatti, ed.) had a huge problem with jealousy. And he had asked his wife to play the leading role, but then got very angry when I had to kiss her. However, he had co-written the screenplay himself,” Geert Van Rampelberg remembers.
