But who is MB14 alias Mohamed Belkhir, the interpreter of Quentin Chapuis in Cat's Eyes? We tell you everything!
After several months of waiting, the first two episodes of Cat's Eyes were finally broadcast on TF1. The opportunity to find Constance Labbé (Sylia), Camille Lou (Tamara) and Claire Romain (Alexia) in a brand new fiction. Particularly ambitious, the series can count on a magnificent setting and a great cast.
In addition to Carole Bouquet (Hélène) and Elodie Fontan (Prudence), MB14 is also part of the cast. And the least we can say is that the young man is particularly convincing in the role of Quentin Dupuis. Even more so when we know that this is only his second role.
Indeed, Mohamed Belkhir, his real name, is above all a musician. Born June 19, 1994, he was propelled to the forefront thanks to his participation in season 5 of The Voice. When he discovered the world of rap at the age of 12, it was a revelation and he immediately began writing his first lyrics.
MB14 is a beat-box specialist
In 2010, he specialized in the art of beat-boxing by watching tutorials on the internet. Immediately, he was passionate about the idea of singing and accompanying himself. He quickly became a one-man band thanks to his loop station. He then chose to call himself MB14 in reference to his favorite number and of course his initials.
What sets MB14 apart is its mastery of looping. Using a loop pedal, he records live layers of sounds that he superimposes, thus creating almost orchestral performances from his voice alone. His performances are often compared to those of the English artist Beardyman, a pioneer in the field of live looping.
In 2015, he won the Youth Tremplin at the Picardie Mouv3 festival. That same year, he joined the Toulouse group Berywam, with which he became French team beatbox champion in 2016, then world champion in 2018.
In 2016, it’s the consecration! Coming second in the final of season 5 of The Voice behind Slimane, the young man made himself known to the general public. In 2021, he returns to participate in the all stars season of the show. He will finish third behind Louis Delort and Anne Sila.
MB launches into comedy in 2022
But it was in 2022 that the artist decided to take a 180-degree turn by trying his hand at comedy with Claude Zidi's film, Tenor. He plays the character of Antoine alongside Michèle Laroque.
In 2023, MB14 tried his luck on the show Britain's Got Talent, where he quickly won over the jury and the public thanks to his talents as a beatboxer and performer. His appearance impressed the presenters Ant and Dec7 so much that they awarded him the prestigious Golden Buzzer, allowing him direct access to the live semi-finals, a crucial stage of the competition. He is unfortunately eliminated during this stage.
The same year, he was chosen to play the character of Quentin Chapuis in Cat’s Eyes. He thus signs his first role on television. An extraordinary destiny! Join us on November 18 to discover the rest of the adventures of these three heroines like no other on TF1.
