No one gets through the sand better than Laurens Sweeck. The leader of Crelan-Corendon demonstrated his agility once again at the Niel Annual Market Cross. With a six-lap solo he recorded his second victory of the season. The Spaniard Felipe Orts finished second in the third round of the Superprestige.
Laurens Sweeck has achieved a satisfying victory in his beloved Jaarmarktcross of Niel, the third round of the Superprestige. Sweeck was in the lead for almost the entire race on the challenging course, which quickly turned into a mud puddle despite favorable conditions at the start. Sweeck showed his power in the mud and made the difference again in the sand.
Behind the demonstration of our compatriot, the Spaniard Felipe Orts surprised with a second place. Vandeputte finished third and thus achieved a bonus of 13 points for the Superprestige ranking. With a total of 39 points, Vandeputte is in the lead in the rankings, ahead of the Dutchman Lars van der Haar (36 points), who finished fifth in Niel, and Michael Vanthourenhout (33 points), who finished sixth.
This is Sweeck’s second victory of the season, after he already won the Essen cross in October. In the women’s race, the victory went to the Dutch Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, followed by her compatriot Lucinda Brand and Marion Norbert Riberolle.
