A confidence that is astonishing to say the least! This Monday, November 11, Léa Salamé and Nicolas Demorand received Jean-François Copé on France Inter. An interview during which the mayor of Meaux discussed many current issues, such as the symbolic date of November 11 or the recent victory of Donald Trump in the last American presidential elections.
But when the recent American presidential elections were mentioned, Léa Salamé asked her guest if he had seen Donald Trump's victory coming before the results were announced. “I'm not going to be smarter than the others. The reality is that there are subjects on which I haven't made predictions for a very long time, I haven't responded for a very long time,” said Jean-François. Copé. Before continuing, categorically: “The price of pain au chocolat, you'll never get me on that again! The election result before it arrives, you won't have me anymore either!“. An unexpected intervention to say the least which refers to the very controversial interview made with Thomas Sotto, in October 2016, during which the 60-year-old politician estimated the price of pain au chocolat in bakeries at the average price of “10 or 15 euro cents” piece – and which earned him a slight bad buzz. Comments which have the merit of amusing Léa Salamé a lot!

Jean-François Copé: but actually, what did he say after his bad buzz?
Shortly after having clumsily assured that a pain au chocolat cost 10 or 15 cents, Jean-François Copé – then a candidate in the right and center primary – quickly recognized his error. “Listen, I admit that I don't buy it very often because as you can imagine, it's a bit high in calories…“, he continued. After his visit, the politician then had fun with the situation by reiterating his justifications. “I admit to being very concerned about my figure… So to tell the truth I stopped 'chocolatines' a long time ago!“, he published on his Twitter account, accompanied by a photograph encouraging, with humor, Internet users to eat “5 fruits and vegetables a day”.
