FC Barcelona confirmed the expected recovery timeframes of its front line stars Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, in a statement published on social media at the turn of the week.

“Tests this morning confirmed that first team player Lamine Yamal has a grade 1 high right ankle sprain. He is expected to be out for two to three weeks,” the statement began.

“Robert Lewandowski has suffered a lower back injury. He will be out of action for approximately 10 days,” it added.

Culers already suffered a scare that all might not be well with Lamine after he and Dani Olmo missed training on Saturday.

While Olmo had a fever but made a second half cameo against Real Sociedad on Sunday, Barca announced an hour before kick off in the 1-0 loss that Lamine had suffered a knock midweek against Red Star Belgrade.

As for Lewandowski, he played the duration of the match in Anoeta, where he had a 13th minute goal controversially ruled out, but picked up the lower back niggle in question during the action.

Both players will have to miss upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures with their countries, which are Spain in Lamine’s case and Poland in Lewandowski’s.

Yet while the latter mentioned striker should be fit to play Barca’s first match after the international break, a November 23 trip to Celta Vigo, Lamine is doubtful for that fixture.

Instead, were he to only be out for two weeks, he could possibly make the Catalans’ hosting of in the Champions League a few days later.

If his absence is stretched to a full three weeks, though, Lamine would miss both those mentioned matches plus a November 30 La Liga tie with Pedri’s childhood club Las Palmas in Montjuic.

Mallorca on December 4 might be a more realistic target date for Lamine’s comeback in that case, and there is no doubt that a team which might possibly be overdependent on the winger will suffer in his absence.

When Lamine hasn’t been available, or at least not played from the start, Barca has slumped to its only two domestic defeats of the season away at Osasuna (4-2) and La Real.
