already two skippers victims of damage, including a favorite

Less than twenty-four hours after the start of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, two skippers suffered damage, including one of the race favorites.

The departure of the 10e edition of the Vendée Globe was calm. A little too calm even due to the lack of wind. But not for the 40 skippers taking part in the solo, non-stop and unassisted round-the-world sailing trip. Two of them suffered damage, race management reported.

Cylinder problem for Boris Herrmann

The first is Conrad Colman. The navigator, who has New Zealand and American nationality, had already experienced a technical problem near the start. A piece (a rope from his boat) had become stuck in his propeller. He was finally able to start after turning around. This time he experienced an electrical blackout on board his boat a few hours later.

“That’s the Vendée Globe! Our boats are complicated, we are going to have moments of joy, of disappointment, of fear, of frustration: I signed for everything!”, he declared, far from being demoralized by this chaotic start to the adventure. .

Boris Herrmann is faced with a cylinder problem on his boat. And his situation will be followed carefully while the German, who is participating in his 2e Vendée Globe, is considered one of the favorites after finishing in 5the place in the previous edition.
