Trump's promises on immigration now have a well-known face from the first term of 78-year-old US President Tom Homan.

UNITED STATES – A nomination that took no time to send a very clear message to his electorate. Donald Trump will not be inaugurated until January 20, but the game of musical chairs has begun in what will soon be the administration of the American president.

After being re-elected head of state for a second term, the American billionaire appointed Tom Homan, a hard-line member of the Republican Party, as head of the agency responsible for border control and immigration (ICE).

A position which quite logically falls to this 62-year-old former police officer, already director of ICE during Donald Trump's previous term in the White House. “ I am pleased to announce that former ICE Director and Border Control stalwart Tom Homan will be joining the Trump Administration where he will be responsible for our nation's borders.”wrote Trmp about the one he even describes as “ Tsar of the borders.

“I have known Tom for a long time, and there is no one better than him to monitor and control our borders”he added on his own social network. According to Donald Trump, Tom Homan will therefore be responsible for “ all expulsions of illegal aliens to their country of origin ». During the Republican's first term, nearly 4,000 migrant children were separated from their parents and placed in detention, under the leadership of Tom Homan.

It must be said that during his 2024 campaign, Donald Trump lashed out against illegal migrants on several occasions. This new appointment therefore has the merit of confirming the ambitions of the 47th President of the United States, who promised for the first day of his mandate the largest expulsion operation of illegal migrants in the history of the United States. Just that.

“Republican Star”

The announcements of the day do not stop there for Donald Trump. Because a few days after choosing to make his campaign manager Susie Wiles his new one as White House chief of staff, a more discreet appointment was also revealed in the American press.

On Sunday, several corroborating sources affirmed that Republican MP Elise Stefanik would become the new United States ambassador to the United Nations.

“I am honored to nominate President Elise Stefanik to serve in my administration as United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tenacious and intelligent fighter for America.”declared the president-elect in a press release to New York Post.

According to CNN, this is another “ strong ally » in addition to being one of Trump's staunchest supporters in Congress. During Donald Trump's impeachment hearings in 2019, her aggressive performance made her a “republican star”in the words used at the time by Donald Trump.

The youngest woman ever elected to the American Congress, she was nevertheless suspicious and even critical at the start of the advent of Donald Trump in 2016. Before changing her mind, believing that Trump's popularity in her district in the north of the state of New York ended up convincing her to reconsider her positions. A proximity which was not far from opening the doors to the role of running mate for him in recent months. Position which ultimately went to JD Vance, future vice-president in the Trump administration.
