“It’s very serious! »: Barça cries scandal after a disallowed goal and points out a VAR marking error (video)

Lhe FC Barcelona experienced its second defeat of the season on Sunday, beaten at Real Sociedad 1-0. The match could nevertheless have taken a completely different turn in the 13th minute, if Robert Lewandowski’s goal had not been canceled. An achievement refused by the VAR for an offside… which may have been completely misjudged!

It could well be that the semi-automatic offside system confused the Polish striker’s foot with that of defender Nayef Aguerd. And this offside of a toe would therefore not be one. The Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo supports this thesis with supporting images. “Lewandowski’s shoe size is 44,” explains the media. “The Pole is two centimeters shorter than Aguerd, who is 1.90 centimeters tall and should therefore have an even bigger foot. Furthermore, given the position of the Real Sociedad player, it is clear that the foot visible in front must be his. »

For the refereeing analyst from Mundo Deportivo, this offside is “a little doubtful”. “We don’t really know which foot is sticking out,” says former international referee César Luis Barrenechea Montero.

“It was definitely the wrong decision but we have to accept it,” lamented Hansi Flick, Barça coach, after the match. “The referee, it wasn’t his fault, to err is human but today it was a big mistake.”

The Barça goalkeeper was particularly upset against this decision. “If there is a possible error in the marking of Lewandowski’s foot, an error so clear and so serious, the league must act,” launched Inaki Pena. “If it’s a VAR error, it needs to be investigated. » “If they really refused a legitimate goal, it is very serious. Very serious,” concluded Barça midfielder Marc Casado.

It was ultimately Real Sociedad who opened the scoring in the 33rd and never let go of their small advantage to secure this victory against the championship leader.
