Ibrahima Konate makes Darwin Nunez prediction after Liverpool’s 2-0 Aston Villa win

Liverpool were 2-0 victors on Saturday against Aston Villa, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

A Mohamed Salah masterclass once again influenced Liverpool to a big win in the league with Darwin Nunez opening the scoring after a sensational breakaway from the Reds inspired by the Egyptian international.

With Alan Shearer noting that Nunez can improve on his finishing, it was a good performance from the Uruguay international, who brought his overall tally to the season up to three goals in all competitions for the Reds.

And teammate Ibrahima Konate has issued a prediction on Nunez’s fortunes this season.

Konate backs Nunez to score ‘many’ goals for Liverpool

Speaking to the press after the game, Konate backed Nunez to build from his fantastic goal against Villa, with the French defender saying: “I am very happy for him. He has to keep going and keep pushing he will score many I am sure.”

Although Nunez’s tally of three goals in 12 games in all competitions is underwhelming for an attacker of the Liverpool no. 9’s quality, there have been plenty of moments this season to suggest that the 25-year-old is finally starting to grasp his role at Anfield.

With Slot impressed by Nunez’s work-rate this season, it’s clear that the Dutch coach is trying to make a real effort to get the best out of the former Benfica superstar, who in the last two seasons at Liverpool has somewhat failed to live up to expectations.

Yet with Nunez now receiving backing from his teammates to score more goals, the 25-year-old attacker will be motivated to take his game to the next level as Liverpool head into the festive period.

Nunez knows this season is make or break for him at Liverpool

Nunez has been one of the most entertaining players to watch in the Premier League since Liverpool pulled off quite the move to sign the Uruguay international from Benfica in 2022.

Yet as fun as Nunez has been for Liverpool fans and neutrals alike, the attacker’s numbers and overall output has been underwhelming, with the Reds yet to see the best version of the 25-year-old at Anfield.

And Nunez knows that this season is make or break for him at Liverpool, with the attacker fully aware that he could be out the exit door if he again fails to hit the numbers required to start for a Slot side.
