Italian Serie A club Atalanta are looking to convince Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman with a new deal that will see him make €3.5million (₦6.35 billion) per year, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig two years ago after struggling to make an impression at the club. And since his move, he has become an important player for the club.
This season, the 27-year-old forward has been on fire with 12 goals and five assists in 13 appearances for La Dea. In total, Lookman has registered 40 goals and 23 assists in 91 appearances for Atalanta.
Due to his impressive performances for Atalanta, Lookman has attracted interest from some of the top clubs in Europe. Last summer, PSG, Arsenal, and Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing Lookman, but Atalanta refused to budge.
Now, it appears that La Dea are not willing to let the Super Eagles star leave at all. Recall that earlier, Soccernet.ng reported that Atalanta were in talks with Lookman to explain his deal beyond 2026, when it is supposed to expire.
According to a new report by Atalanta BC, Atalanta have tabled a one-year extension deal worth €3.5million per year plus bonuses. This will be almost double of the €2.3million yearly pay which Lookman is on.
If Lookman agrees, he will become the fourth highest-paid player at the club, behind Gianluca Scamacca, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Ben Godfrey.
