“It was a difficult match”

Stéphane Le Mignan, coach of FC : “Already, it’s a second victory in a row and we haven’t yet managed to do it since the start of the season. It was important. It was a difficult match, a good Ligue 2 match against a good team. We had to defend well, we were successful in their situations a few times. We scored a very good goal, I think we could have scored the second which would have relieved us. Often, if we don't score this second goal, we tense up a little. We had already experienced this against Guingamp, managing this tense end to the match. We defended well but they had some very clear situations. The exit from Stambouli? He had fatigue, cramps after the hour of play. We played on Monday, the recovery was average. It changed the strategy of changes. Maxime Colin has a knee problem, perhaps a small sprain. Papa Amadou Diallo is treating a pubic area which is bothering him a little, we preferred that he trim it a little. »

“We could have made the score worse”

Matthieu Udol, captain of FC Metz: “With the ambitions we have, it was frustrating not to be able to win two matches in a row. Without this, it is difficult to achieve our objectives. That's why it was important to break the series, with two more clean sheets! We had a good first half against a good opponent. You had to be wary of it. I also think that we could have worsened the score but we managed to remain solid afterwards. Perhaps there was a drop in performance during the hour of play, but we were able to compensate with our state of mind and solidarity. »

Nicolas Seube, coach of Caen: “I'm frustrated with the result but we fought the battle we wanted to fight. We offered a lot of play, we had a lot of situations. All we needed was success. I am proud of what we showed today against an opponent who is a contender for the promotion. Compared to what we proposed, I have the feeling that it is a successful match. The result is hard to swallow. To have an enjoyable match, you need two playing teams and that was the case. We knew that Gauthier Hein was the flagship player of this team, capable of causing us problems. I think we defended intelligently. On one action, we made a small mistake and we got ahead of ourselves. »
