“DSDS” – Finale: Christian Jährig is the new superstar

Four men, four extraordinary voices, but only one winner: In the grand finale of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” the finalists pull out all the stops once again. At the end, a touch of Las Vegas wafts through the final studio in Cologne.

A tattooed format butt, Tobi Tornado from Ballermann hell and the oldest candidate for the “DSDS” history books: For weeks, viewers in front of their television sets have been amazed at the many highs and lows under the “Germany is looking for the superstar” banner . Just in time for the finale, the core question of the big picture comes to the fore: Who has what it takes to win the title? There was a lot to admire in exciting selection rounds in Europa Park, in the Veltins Arena and under the Cretan sun. Now the last four remaining candidates are clinging to their microphones. We welcome to the finale: Phil Collins double Nissim Mizrahi, charisma king Philip Matas, Ruhrpott Bieber Tom Mc Connor and tweeter world champion Christian Jährig.

What is immediately noticeable, of course, is that not a single singer was actually able to qualify for the final. Why that is: “It wasn’t enough for the girls because their performances weren’t that good, especially today. We had such strong boys!” explained format boss Dieter Bohlen immediately after the semi-finals. What one person acknowledges with a shrug of the shoulders is quite upsetting to a female jury member: “That hurts my heart as a woman,” sobbed the pop princess after the final decision on Crete.

Bushido falls into the house with the door

Back on German soil it’s time to put aside your nervousness and deliver! But before things get going, rap heavyweight Bushido opens the door. A few short rhymes already fuel excited regular table discussions. But as Pietro said shortly before on his Instagram channel: “Pietro Lombardi doesn’t give a shit, and Bushido doesn’t give a shit just as much, because the focus is on the candidates!” That’s exactly how it should be and then they start with the four finalists – each in the three categories chart song, heartfelt song and their own final song.

In the first round, almost everyone chose the toilet in terms of song selection – at least that was the opinion of the jury. So Philip falls on his face with the country pop song “A Bar Song” by Shaboozey. Tom doesn’t win a flowerpot with the mumbled ballad “Red Flags from Berq (“That was far too depressing for me” quote from Dieter Bohlen). With his interpretation of “Comet”, Nissim causes questioning faces behind the jury’s desk: “That was twenty percent at most about you,” wonders Pietro. Only Christian convinced the jurors with his version of Loredana’s ESC hit “Tattoo.” “You were by far the best in the world Round!” Dieter praises the visibly touched 30-year-old singer with the high voice.

Dieter Bohlen looks into the crystal ball

Christian can even go one step further in the heartfelt song section. While the other candidates are slowly but surely getting going, Christian pulls the absolute top joker out of his sleeve and belts out Celine Dion’s smash hit “My Heart Will Go On” into the microphone, leaving Dieter Bohlen speechless: “I know that in the end we’ll leave the decision to the audience. But for me you won today with this song!”, predicts the pop titan, who shortly afterwards became an amateur fortune teller and Send an ennobling message of greeting to the weekend prophets of this world. Because Dieter is exactly right with his feeling and instinct. After a final round of performances in which each finalist is allowed to present their own final song again, Christian Jährig holds his hands in front of his face in surprise and joy. The hall shakes, the jury applauds and the winner can hardly believe his luck. The new superstar is called Christian Jährig. We congratulate you on the title, 100,000 euros, a record deal and a hopefully long and sustainable ride in the fast lane. Cheers! And only to you, dear Christian!
