Brazilian compared to Anderson Silva, makes main fight in this Saturday’s UFC (9)

After three fights in the UFC, with praised performances, the 31-year-old São Paulo native from Taubaté, Carlos Prates, will headline this Saturday's event (9), where he will hold the main fight against the American Neil Magny, in Las Vegas. Coming from Muay Thai, the Brazilian is at a great stage in his career. With a streak of 10 consecutive wins, he hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2019 and has already been compared to the 'legend', Anderson Silva.

To join the biggest MMA organization in the world, Carlos had to go through the “Contender Series”, a program that brings together mixed martial arts talents, to try to gain a place in the organization. After the São Paulo native's victory, Dana White, president of the UFC, compared the calm inside the octagon and the São Paulo native's way of fighting, with the peak of Anderson Silva, one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA.

Ten months after his UFC debut, Prates knocked out all three opponents he faced and received the “bonus” for performance of the night on all three occasions. His performance outside the octagon has also attracted the attention of fight fans, in addition to having his own charisma, the fighter openly talks about the fact that he likes going to parties, drinking with friends and smoking cigarettes, and has even admitted in an interview that at one point moment in my life, I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day. With this, he has already gained the reputation of being a “roots” fighter.

With a record of 20 wins and 6 losses, Carlos is trying to enter the top 15 in the welterweight category (77 kg) rankings, but to do so he will need to defeat veteran Neil Magny, with a record of 29 wins and 13 losses.

UFC Vegas, which takes place this Saturday, starts at 6pm, with the main card scheduled to start at 9pm.
