Saginaw, Michigan
Donald Arthur Ennis, 84, a lifelong resident of Saginaw, was born February 2, 1940. He fell asleep alive in Christ November 6, 2024.
Don loved God and cared deeply for his family, extended family members and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed nature, walks in the woods on his 10 acres, camping and many years of backpacking along Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula, and other places such as Isle Royale, Olympic National Park, and the Appalachian Trail. From age six he was a car buff and could name the make and model of any American car.
Don was employed as a grocer/meat cutter in his father’s business, Ennis Food Market, 1953 – 1976 and later as a machine operator for Saginaw Steering Gear, 1976 – 2001. His work ethic was stellar with recognition for perfect attendance and his many suggestions acknowledged and rewarded. He retired in 2001. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Marilyn, visiting and sometimes caring for family and continued his love of backpacking.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Marilyn S. (Ellis) Ennis; daughters and son-in-loves, Cindy and Philip Robinson, Judy and Rolf Hissom, Jenny and Ron Cooper; grandchildren, Emily Robinson, Hannah Robinson (husband, Andrew Marshall), Jonathan (Kelly) Robinson, Nathaniel (Sara) Hissom, Geoffrey Hissom (McKenna Grennan), Andrew (Lori) Hissom, Elizabeth Hissom (fiancé, Matt Shafer), Josef Hissom (Kelleen Bromley), Rachel Cooper, Rebecca Cooper, Seth Cooper; great-grandchildren, Moses, Abigail, Lucinda, and Christina Robinson, Aiden Marshall, Lincoln and Brooklyn Hissom; sister, Kathy and brother-in-love Wayne Bellinger; sister-in-love Gloria Ellis, and brother-in-love John Ellis.
