Christian Baumann and his Algerian gymnastics partner Kaylia Nemour narrowly miss out on winning the 41st Swiss Cup. In the Swiss gymnast’s last competition, the duo finished in 2nd place.
A mistake by the Algerian on the uneven bars cost the man from Aargau the perfect finish. Baumann ends his career with the Swiss Cup. The 29-year-old represented Switzerland twice at the Olympic Games. In 2015, he celebrated his greatest success at the European Championships in Montpellier with second place on parallel bars.
Thanks to Morgane Osyssek-Reimer and Léo Saladino, victory in the Hallenstadion went to France for the first time. The two Swiss duos were unable to compete for victory. Anny Wu and Florian Langenegger showed a solid competition and made it through the first round, but failed at the semi-final hurdle.
For Stefanie Siegenthaler and Luca Giubellini, the first round was the end of the line. Two mistakes on the uneven bars by the gymnast from Zurich weighed too heavily in the final ranking.
