This Saturday for the 11th day of Ligue 1, the Monegasques won against Strasbourg thanks in particular to a double from Ben Seghir (1-3).
A reversal of the situation to get back on track. AS Monaco won this Saturday afternoon on the pitch of RC Strasbourg Alsace, as part of the 11e day of Ligue 1, at the end of an exciting and particularly open match. The start of the match was largely to the advantage of the Rocher club, which exerted intense and high pressure, and which was able to find its offensive elements in good positions. But in football, when you dominate and don't score, the opponent can take advantage. And that is exactly what the Alsatians did. Shortly before the half-hour mark, after a cross from the left to the far post, Guéla Doué recovered the ball in the penalty area. With a superb technical move – a rake feint – the ex-Rennais eliminated Eliesse Ben Seghir before overflowing…and hitting from a tight angle. A daring attempt which allowed him to open the scoring since Radoslaw Majecki, who had slightly anticipated a cross, was well placed (29e). Subsequently, Adi Hütter's players tried to react. And they also had the opportunity to equalize with Breel Embolo but the Swiss lacked realism in the penalty area, on a superb serve from Maghnes Akliouche (40e). Liam Rosenior's men therefore returned to the locker room with a one-goal advantage.
Strasbourg-Monaco: the film of the meeting
Back from the break, AS Monaco was a little more enterprising. She was able to obtain more situations, without however being effective in the last gesture. But by pushing, RC Strasbourg Alsace made a mistake. On a cross from the left and an attempted recovery from Eliesse Ben Seghir, Diego Moreira stopped the ball on his line…with his hand. After viewing the images, the match referee designated the penalty spot. And Eliesse Ben Seghir did not tremble, calmly transforming it with his right foot (79e). Little in sight in the first half, the Moroccan attacking midfielder (totally) freed himself at the end of the match. In the final moments of regulation time, on a quick transition, he was perfectly found in the penalty area by his friend Maghnes Akliouche. And once again, he showed composure, giving his team the advantage with a beautiful cross strike (89e). In the process, taking advantage of a poor Alsatian transmission, George Ilenikhena – who came on during the break – rushed to goal and deceived the vigilance of Dorde Petrovic, thus sealing the victory for ASM. With these three points, the Rocher club (2e23 points) revives and temporarily returns to three points behind Paris SG. The Alsatian team remains 10e.
