Jon Jones is all geared up to defend his UFC heavyweight title for the first time against Stipe Miocic in the UFC 309 main event at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The fans are truly hyped to see the main event clash happen. But what if we tell you that there is another way that you can get a little piece of action featuring Jon Jones before November 16? Well, that’s actually possible since Jon Jones has just announced his appearance in a recent MMA series on Netflix.
Taking to his Instagram, ‘Bones’ took to the caption to give a hint to his appearance in the show while also sharing the official poster. He wrote, “If you’re home tonight, wondering how to make this beautiful Friday even better, I’ve got the perfect plan. Hop onto #Netflix and check out The Cage, the new MMA series that’s packed with action, incredible athletes, and non-stop adrenaline. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed—and, yes, you might just spot a familiar face. Enjoy the show!”

Well, this appearance is set to please the fans of the UFC heavyweight who is possibly facing his last opponent Stipe Miocic. However, in a recent interview with Kevin Iole, Jon Jones mentioned that following his heavyweight title fight at UFC 309, the only fight he would be interested in would be a champion versus-champion matchup with light heavyweight king Alex Pereira.
“Bones” was the most successful champion in the 205-pound class in UFC history, and a bout with Pereira, currently one of MMA’s most popular fighters, would generate great interest. However, Jones has long been the target of interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. The British fighter has already defended his title, while Jones has not fought since winning his share of the title in March 2023 (much of this time out has been due to a pectoral injury that postponed his fight with Miocic for a full year).

As a result, a sector of fans and media has been very critical of Jones for not defending against the legitimate challenger. In fact, they even took to the comments on the Netflix post to root for an Aspinall fight.
Fans storm Jon Jones’ comment for ducking Tom Aspinall
As soon as the post hit the internet, fans were quick to make ‘Bones’ remember the name, Tom Aspinall. Some fans took a dig at his Netflix series appearance and wrote that Jon Jones is willing to do anything in his life except fight Tom Aspinall. They wrote comments like, “Anything but fight Tom, he will literally deck you sub one minute,” “Bro will do anything but fight Tom Aspinall,” and “Ok great, now fight Aspinall.”

Some other fans too joined in on the Tom Aspinall spam as they asked Jones if Tom Aspinall would be a part of the series or if they actually get to see the fight happen in the Netflix special. There were several comments like, “Does Tom Aspinall knock you out in the end?” and “Do you fight Tom at the end of this special?” However, some fans were confident that ‘Bones’ wouldn’t even mention Aspinall, let alone fight. They wrote comments like, “Man’s gonna skip mentioning Aspinall worse than broccoli” and “Was the interviewer informed about no Aspinall questions?”
But how can we have a Jon Jones post without the mention of Dana White? It has been a long-running gag by now that Dana White has a special love for Jon Jones. The UFC CEO is often seen taking sides or praising the heavyweight champion, something that draws the ire of the fans. So when they saw Jon Jones uploading a Netflix series, they simply commented, “@danawhite most favorite show.????” Another fan mentioned how Dana White might even get emotional by seeing his favorite fighter on the big screen: “Momma White going to get emotional.” Well, it surely looks like fans want the Jones vs. Aspinall fight to happen at all costs. But what do you think? Will ‘Bones’ ever accept the fight? Let us know in the comments.
