This Friday, November 8, Philippe Katerine gave an interview to the magazine Liberation. In the columns of our colleagues, the 55-year-old songwriter and actor spoke in an offbeat way about his hair loss and his intelligence. He said he had to take an IQ test when he was just an adult because he couldn't get a diploma. “I have very little”, he warned in all frankness, explaining that he “took tests for a driving license because[‘il] didn't arrive[t] not to have it.”
“At the time, in 1986, Germany had imposed this idea of the IQ test to those who could not get their license. I'm 18 years old, my father takes me to La Roche-sur-Yon, I take my test and the QI people call me and say: we're sorry, you have very little”affirmed Philippe Katerine, giving “this terrifying figure” which he received in the face: “64.” A result all the more disconcerting since the young man had “do [s]we possible.” “My father was waiting for me in the car. I had to tell him the truth. He was devastated,” developed Julie Depardieu's companion. Despite everything, the actor heard from his father a “extraordinary sentence” to cheer him up and prove to him that all was not lost in advance: “There are 64 of you, if you get along well, the 64 should work.”

An IQ far removed from the French average
A remark that Philippe Katerine has never forgotten, as he indicated to our colleagues: “I often think of this phrase from my father.” According to the IQ scale, updated by the American psychologist David Wechsler, the average intelligence is between 90 and 109. Below 69, the individual is considered to have extremely low intelligence. The French have on average, as reported by the site Psychologies.com, an IQ between 97 and 98. A loss of 3.8 points is however notable over the period from 1999 to 2009.
