Pay inequalities: “the laws are probably not applied”, estimates Rebecca Amsellem, economist

Rebecca Amsellem, economist and creator of the newsletter Les Glorieuses, was the guest on Franceinfo's 11 a.m./1 p.m. show this Friday, November 8.

This November 8, at 4:48 p.m., French women will work voluntarily. “It is a statistic produced by INSEE which establishes that there is a salary gap of 13.9% between men and women”explains Rebecca Amsellem. There have been laws and measures to respect equal pay in . Why is nothing moving? “What we notice is that since the beginning of the movement (…) we can establish the fact that it is stagnating. Wage inequalities are illegal in France, they have been illegal for 50 years ( …) the laws are probably not applied”laments the guest.

Consider Rebecca Amselle that “we live in a society where certain professions are essentially carried out by women (…) professions which allow us to have a form of social cohesion, so we propose a rebalancing of these salaries”defends the economist.
