Enzo Fernandez played 45 minutes against Noah in the Europa Conference League, and fans noticed one thing after the Chelsea star was substituted off on Thursday night.
Enzo Maresca was able to comfortably rely on what some Chelsea fans are referring to as his B-team against Noah on Thursday night, as eight goals were fired past the Armenians.
It was a good run-out for a number of Chelsea players, including the likes of Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku who both bagged braces on the night.
The Blues now sit top of the Europa Conference League table and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon. However, they’ll have to wait until after the international break to increase their dominance.
One player who will be hoping he has done enough to force his way into Maresca’s plans for Arsenal at the weekend is Enzo Fernandez.
Enzo Fernandez’s performance in numbers against Noah
Enzo Fernandez has had to settle for getting most of his minutes in the Europa Conference League in recent times, as Maresca has favoured Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.
He certainly made the most of his start at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, though the fact he was substituted at half-time did raise some eyebrows.
The Argentine’s performance was good. He grabbed a hat-trick of assists inside 21 minutes, had 39 touches of the ball, a passing accuracy of 90%, made three key passes, completed both his long balls, completed both his crosses, completed his only dribble, won four duels, one interception, and one tackle.
Of course, it was only Noah, but it was good to see him dictating the tempo and controlling things in the middle of the park again.
Chelsea fans notice one thing are Enzo Fernandez’s substitution
These Chelsea fans, when speaking on X, all noticed how the tempo completely dropped when Enzo Fernandez was substituted against Noah.
“Crazy already how much the level of the game has dropped since Enzo went off.”, @Canheorkante said.
@CFCDaily noticed it too: “Quite funny how much the speed and attacking intent slowed when Enzo Fernandez came off.”
@Salvinrazi stated: “Thought I was the only one who noticed that.”
@icedlettuce33 mentioned: “So true. Enzo Fernandez was a maestro in the first half! Controlled the game beautifully with his pinpoint passing from midfield.”
“The tempo died .. you couldn’t help but notice.”, @aizoh_blessed commented.
@IsaacJuliusAmo1 isn’t sure if his substitution is a hint towards the weekend: “Very true. We could have scored more goals and gained more control of the game with him. Could Maresca start him against Arsenal?? If not, then it was too early for him to be taken off.”
