Netanyahu sends planes to take Israeli football fans away from Amsterdam

Maccabi Tel Aviv came into action against Ajax Amsterdam on Thursday evening. On the sidelines of that football match, there were incidents between Israeli fans and pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Israeli media say, citing the Israeli Foreign Ministry, that ten Israelis were injured. The Dutch police arrested 57 people.

“Ambush”

Israeli news site Haaretz spoke to Maccabi supporters who stated that the Israelis were ambushed in several places in the city as they returned from the match by train.

Several users of the social network X claim that Israeli supporters chanted insults against Palestinians and Gaza, and pulled Palestinian flags from facades. Amsterdam police have confirmed that at least one such incident involving a trap took place. The pro-Palestinian side allegedly stole passports from Israeli fans, according to social media posts.

The Israeli embassy in the United States reports on X that “hundreds of Maccabi fans” were attacked as they left the stadium. The attackers would have proudly shared images of this. The embassy also shares images showing acts of violence. Those images have not been verified. (Read more below the post)
