Anderlecht had to let the observation round pass. The people of Brussels decided to put their foot on the ball, and lay siege to the Riga area.
The notes of Mauves: Stroeykens the spark, Coosemans (almost) impassable wall, a taste too little for Dreyer
Few opportunities…
A good phase between N’Diaye, Amuzu and Degreef allowed Dolberg to confirm his current great form. But the referee called a foul, canceling the opener.
And yet, the biggest chance of this first period almost smiled on the Latvians. Fortunately, Coosemans made a superb reflex save shortly before half-time.
The second alert occurred shortly after returning from the locker room. But again, Kouadio came up against Cossemans.
And then… there wasn’t much left to eat. Dreyer sent his shot over the stadium, while Ondoa deployed well in front of Edozie.
A decisive end to the match
We had to wait until the last quarter of an hour to see the Mauves finally put some rhythm into this meeting. Stroeykens’ entry certainly had a lot to do with it. The kid from Neerpede entered with other ambitions, such as landing a superb shot into the top corner to open the scoring (0-1, 86th).
It’s hard not to see Anderlecht win after this goal. But the RFS had it under its belt. And despite Coosemans’ superb save, N’Diaye could do nothing and blocked the cross into his own cage at the end of added time.
