As of September 1, 2024, the Kingdom had exactly 36,828,330 inhabitants, an increase of 2,980,088 inhabitants since the 2014 census, when the population then stood at 33,848,242. This is what emerges from the presentation note of the draft decree, presented by the Minister of the Interior, relating to the approval of the figures fixing the number of the legal population of Morocco which has just been approved by the Council of the government.
The increase in the number of inhabitants is also correlated with an increase in the number of households. According to the same document, the total number of households today stands at 9,275,038, an increase of 1,961,232 households compared to the 7,313,806 households counted in 2014, an increase of 26.82%.

At the same time, the number of foreigners residing on Moroccan territory reached 148,152 people, compared to 86,206 in 2014. This represents an increase of 61,946 individuals, which translates into an increase of 71.86%.
As a reminder, the collection of data for the RGPH 2024, for which a budget of 1.46 billion dirhams (MMDH) was allocated, took place from September 1 to 30, 2024, instead of 20 days during previous censuses. It concerned 37,109 census districts, distributed between 25,167 in urban areas and 11,942 in rural areas, as well as 10,958 control sectors and 935 supervision zones.
To carry out this census, 40,883 investigators, 11,904 controllers and 1,071 municipal supervisors were mobilized. The High Commission for Planning, in charge of the operation, acquired 55,000 electronic tablets, co-financed by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, which will recover them as soon as the census field work is completed, and this, as part of the promotion of the digital school project.
