Brest won this Wednesday on the field of Sparta Prague (1-2) during the fourth day of the Champions League. Still undefeated in the competition and well on their way to qualifying, the Breton club and its defender Kenny Lala silence their detractors.
Take that haters! After surprising Ligue 1 clubs last season, Brest is now achieving feats in the Champions League. Far from the problems promised by its detractors at the time of the draw, the Breton club is undefeated in four days. Better, with three victories and a draw, the Brestois are almost guaranteed to play at least the play-offs. A little revenge for Kenny Lala.
“It's a question of mentality despite everything. We have to improve it already between ourselves by always wanting the maximum for our French clubs”, said the Breton full-back after the success achieved on the field of Sparta Prague (1-2). “We can play on the weekend against other teams but whether it's this Tuesday or this Wednesday I was for the French clubs and I always wish them the best. So it gives a good lesson despite everything.”

“It stings us”
Unfazed, the Brest players intend to live their Champions League epic to the fullest. With three wins and a draw in four European matches, the Bretons are still undefeated and occupy fourth place in the C1 standings halfway through the championship.
“People weren't counting on us and then we are here. We are responding. So I hope in the future that it will give ideas and then that it will change mentalities,” added Kenny Lala. “Even if we start from zero, we must always have respect for others and always wish for the best. That's how it is, we accept it but in the end it also stings us. It puts us in and motivates us to show the opposite.”
Brest confident before challenging Barça
Second best club in Ligue 1 in the Champions League behind Monaco, Brest can even begin to dream of finishing the championship phase in one of the first eight places. A ranking which would send the Bretons directly to the round of 16. But to believe it, we still have to pull out all the stops in the next match against Barcelona then against PSV, Shakthar and Real Madrid.
Three opponents with whom Brest even seems capable of competing as Kenny Lala's partners are impressing this season in C1. From there to signing a new feat, on November 26 at Camp Nou, anything is possible.
“As a footballer, anywhere in the world you never go there to lose. You always go there to give your best, that's the most important thing”, finally estimated the Stade Brestois defender. “And the result, we will see what it gives. We must not have regrets and we must give everything together.”
