American election – “I think it's very good for America”: these French people who rejoice in Trump's victory

If 66% of French people say they are worried by Donald Trump's victory in the American presidential election, according to an interactive Toluna Harris study for RTL, in Val-d'Oise, in Beaumont-sur-Oise, some residents are far from being devastated by the return of the former president.

In a fast-food restaurant in this town, the boss installed a to follow the results of the election. Trump's victory speech appears and two retired women who don't know each other start debating. “Me, I think it’s very good for America.“, says Maryse. “Do you think so? It’s a disaster,” his interlocutor replies.

The restaurant owner smiles. He recalls that the poverty rate in this city is higher than the national averagemany therefore recognize themselves in Donald Trump's speech. “The pragmatists thought they would win. It marks everyone,” he concludes.
