‘He’s a left winger, but Vincius Jr. is the best in the world’ – Karim Benzema disagrees with Kylian Mbappé’s Real Madrid position

In an interview with The ChiringuitoKarim Benzema (36) has disagreed with the position that Kylian Mbappé (25) has been utilised in since he arrived at Real Madrid.

Mbappé has played most of his football as a centre forward since he made the move to the Spanish capital from Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window. This has seen the Champions League winners look rather disjointed in attack and criticism levelled at the captain.

The 25-year-old has operated as a striker in the past, but it is a position that the attacker has been vocally critical of – making it clear he prefers to operate from the left flank. This has created a problem for Real Madrid with Vinicius Jr, who also wants to play from the left, creating a selection headache for Carlo Ancelotti. As a result, the Frenchman has been forced into a more central role. The former Monaco attacker’s entourage are worried that his career could stall if he continues to play as a centre forward for the La Liga outfit, according to SPORT.

Having played with both players, Benzema has had his say on who should start on the left wing for the Spanish capital club, “For me, Mbappé is not a 9, he’s a left winger… but Carlo’s not going to move Vinicius because he is the best in the world right now in his position.”
