Here are the reasons that explain the bitter failure of the Democrats and Kamala Harris

The re-election of Donald Trump, a disaster for the climate? “It could be a very hard blow”

The vice-president then aspired to become the first female president of the United States, and thus avenge the failure of Hillary Clinton in 2016. But she did not succeed in uniting enough Americans around her person to capsize a nation where there remains this glass ceiling preventing women from accessing the highest offices. The Americans did not indulge in Kamalamania as they did with Barack Obama to propel the first black president to the head of the White House.

And yet, Kamala Harris seemed equipped to succeed in her audacious bet, symbolizing America of the 21st century, particularly because of her origins since she is the daughter of the Jamaican Donald Harris and the Indian Shyamala Gopalan. But the one who, by his own admission, “was aiming for the moon to plant his flag there will have exploded in mid-flight like the SpaceX Starship rocket of Elon Musk who worked throughout the campaign to bring Donald Trump back to the White House.

In the end, it was perhaps not so much the whimsical ex-president who won, but Kamala Harris who lost. By not uniting around her person and her program, some of the votes she collected are nothing other than a pure rejection of Donald Trump. Insufficient. Its primary mission was to rally the vote of women and minorities, but it simply did not succeed.

What was supposed to give him victory was the vote of women and Latinos. But, despite Donald Trump's outrageous remarks about Puerto Ricans whom he described as “trash”, it did not garner sufficient support in these communities.

For his part, Donald Trump did not hesitate to flex his muscles to convince voters that the position of president is not a feminine one. The Republican has in fact relied on virilist codes and his entire campaign was peppered with insulting or contemptuous comments towards women, coming from him or his political and media relays. He was full of praise for strong leaders, he surrounded himself with combat sports champions and above all wanted to project an image of strength. He presented himself as a “protector” of women, but assuring that he would protect them “whether (they) liked it or not”, and assiduously courted the electorate who, pell-mell, favored cryptocurrencies, MMA and considers that American society has sunk into “wokism”. Donald Trump also described Kamala Harris as a “mental retard” or “crazy” who would, if she became president, be “a toy” for other world leaders. A very harsh speech but one that hits the mark with American men, more and more pumped up with testosterone. Over the past seven years, according to the American Enterprise Institute, the proportion of young men who believe the United States has gone “too far” in promoting gender equality has more than doubled.

Another reason for this failure lies in his background. At 60, she does not have a path that traditionally leads to the presidential seat. She has never been the head of large companies, nor been a governor like other former presidents.

But this defeat is, in the end, only a reflection of the failure of the entire democratic clan. Because, in addition to the presidential race, there were also the Senate elections. There too, the defeat is bitter. The Democrats have been too far from the primary concerns of Americans, neglecting the working class and workers, while Donald Trump hammered home his promise of a golden age for the United States in the event of victory, lower taxes at the key and ultra-protectionism in leitmotif.

And then, Kamala Harris failed in her campaign aimed at convincing the undecided. These millions of voters who did not hear his speech and turned away from the polls even though they had the cards in hand to write history. And this while she seemed to have scored points by winning the only debate of the campaign which pitted her against Donald Trump…
