Based in Thiron-Gardais (Eure-et-Loir), the company Bertin Technologies is a major player in the field of instrumentation for critical and scientific applications.

In other words, the Thironnaise factory manufactures devices scientific measurement for and abroad. Devices used in important or delicate situations, where precision and reliability are crucial.

Within the Bertin Technologies group, the company is part of the “Instruments” operational unit, focused on the nuclear sector and radiation protection.

At the heart of this unit, this Eure-et-Loir industry offers several ranges of products, including radiological environmental monitoring and radiation protection.

State-of-the-art production and monitoring

In 2022, Bertin Technologies was acquired by the Business Consolidation and Development Fund (FCDE).

This strategic acquisition allowed the company to gain autonomy and continue development of its historical activities.

This financial support also made it possible to expand the Thiron-Gardais industrial site, with an extension of 2,000 m2bringing the surface area of the workshops to 3 250 m2.

In 2023, the site with 80 employees had produced 24,000 pieces of equipment intended for both the French market and export.

In addition to production, Bertin Technologies also stands out for the management of its customers' equipment fleet.

No less than 33 000 instruments return to the company every two years for an inspection and a calibrationthus reinforcing the reliability of the installations. Among its clients, we find heavyweights like EDFthe Ministry of Defense and Naval Group.

Replacing an irradiator

To sustain its activity in Thiron-Gardais, Bertin Technologies has identified several areas of modernization.

First, society must replace one of its two irradiators by 2027. This tool, essential for individually calibrating and calibrating radioactivity measuring instruments, will need to be modernized to remain compliant with Cofrac accreditation requirements.

The project, estimated at 1 million euroswill begin in 2025.

Innovation and new technologies

Beyond replacing this equipment, Bertin Technologies is banking on innovation to strengthen its competitiveness. Among its flagship projects, the integration of artificial intelligence occupies a central place.

In collaboration with EDF, ORANO and the CNRS, the company is working on a research and development program aimed at optimizing detection portals. The objective is to reduce false alarms and offer decision support tools.

Another major issue: digitalization. The company wishes to modernize its information system to ensure complete traceability of the product life cycle.

This involves securing data exchanges, thanks to a secure gateway. This should protect both intra-factory flows and connected products.

Constant training for its technicians

Bertin Technologies also invests in the training of its technicians, introducing them to augmented reality. This technology will be used for commercial demonstrations, but also for the assembly of complex parts. Furthermore, the company is exploring additive manufacturing to better industrialize its products. This ambitious program of 2 million euros over three years should propel Bertin Technologies to the forefront of industrial innovation.

Thus, with its modernization projects and its technological ambitionsthe Thiron-Gardais company affirms its desire to remain an essential player in its field. All while consolidating its positions on the European and international market.
