Stefan Raab's show celebrated a spectacular comeback. But it's not going really well. Maybe a new entry can bring back the lost audience.
Summit meeting of the show legends: Ex-“Wetten, dass…?” presenter Thomas Gottschalk becomes the new game director in Stefan Raab's show “You won't win a million here with Stefan Raab” on RTL+. This was announced by a station spokesman. The 74-year-old, who recently caused a stir with his book “Unfiltered” and a few interviews (“I touched women on TV purely for work purposes”), had previously indicated on Instagram that he and Raab were planning something together. Gottschalk wrote “Surprise!” about a shared photo from the show. – so surprise.
There are always new game leaders on the show who are supposed to make sure that things are fair between Raab and his candidates, against whom he competes in duels, and that everyone understands the rules. Among others, Raab's partner Elton, celebrity expert Frauke Ludowig and jungle camp moderator Jan Köppen have already taken on the role. Now Gottschalk takes over the baton. The episode will be available on the streaming platform RTL+ from Wednesday evening.
Thomas Gottschalk and Stefan Raab are not meeting each other for the first time
Gottschalk and Raab's paths crossed again and again. Among other things, Raab, who is around 15 years younger, was once a guest when Gottschalk performed “Wetten, dass…?” was still king of Saturday night entertainment. After losing a bet, Raab came up with the idea of racing down an ice rink with a wok – the “Wok World Cup” was born.
Thomas Gottschalk – the man who had them all on the couch
Gottschalk, in turn, commented on Raab's return after a long screen break with the words: “Stefan Raab is coming back – I say goodbye!” It was a reference to his book in which he “thoughts about time,” as he called it.
Stefan Raab's streaming show recently lost audience
Raab's streaming show, which cannot be seen on the free RTL television program, increasingly lost audience after its launch. In the evaluation by AGF video research after the opening episode of the show, the net reach was still around 790,000 people (calendar week 38); a week later – after the second broadcast – the format had around 430,000 viewers.
In the currently evaluated calendar week (October 21-27, 2024), the show achieved a net reach of 230,000 people. This meant that the streaming-only show format fell out of the station's top 10 list. At the top was the reality show “The Summer House of the Stars – Battle of the Celebrity Couples” (920,000 people).
AGF Videoforschung publishes the evaluation of the use of streaming formats two weeks after the first broadcast. The net reach measures all viewers who accessed at least one of the episodes or their excerpts between Monday and Sunday.
