Province of Tan-Tan: launch of a salvo of new development projects

In Tan-Tan, the kick-off was given on Monday, November 4, to several new development projects, intended to strengthen port and road infrastructure, hydraulic developments, the drinking water network and the electricity network, as well as the health and sports sectors.

In the commune of El Ouatia, Mohamed Najem Abhai, wali of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, accompanied by a delegation including Mbarka Bouaida, president of the region’s council, and Abdellah Chater, governor of the province of Tan-Tan , launched the rehabilitation work on the port of Tan-Tan, as part of a partnership between the National Ports Agency (ANP) and the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.

This project, with a budget of 128 million dirhams (MDH), concerns in particular the rehabilitation of the sanitation network (21.9 MDH), the electricity network (5 MDH) and the roads (8 MDH), as well as as the construction of the brackish water desalination plant (47.7 MDH) and a solar station (11.5 MDH).

The wali and the delegation accompanying him were then informed of the projects planned as part of the El Ouatia urban rehabilitation program (120 MDH), which includes the strengthening of public facilities and road infrastructure (42 MDH).

Various projects have also been launched in the town of Tan-Tan, including the construction of five local sports fields (6.7 million dirhams), the beautification of the facades of avenues and main streets, as part of a contract. program between the State and the Guelmim-Oued Noun region (29.85 million dirhams), or even a wastewater reuse project (12.1 million dirhams).

On this occasion, as part of the national drinking water supply and irrigation program 2020-2027, the Khank Massoud dam, with a capacity of one million cubic meters, was inaugurated, and the construction works from the Ouin Madkour dam (16 MDH) were launched. The same goes for the road construction site linking Lamssid and Abtih, over a distance of 75 km (56 MDH).

Explanations were then provided to the delegation concerning the urban rehabilitation project of the town of Tan-Tan (279.29 MDH), whose program includes 10 projects spread over the strengthening of infrastructure and public facilities, and the rehabilitation of the drinking water and liquid sanitation network.

The delegation was also informed about the project to rehabilitate the emergency department of the Tan-Tan provincial hospital (20 MDH), and visited the expansion site of the Tan-Tan blood transfusion center (5 MDH) . All of the aforementioned projects benefit from a significant budget envelope, to which the regional council contributes up to 830 MDH, specifies its president Mbarka Bouaida.
