This Tuesday, November 5 in the morning, an intrusion alert was triggered at the Pablo-Picasso college in Vallauris, after a suspicious call from an individual to the national police.
Immediately, a major security system including national and municipal police and around ten firefighters was put in place to cordon off Avenue de l'Hôpital leading to the school.
“We are currently tracing the call to find out which phone it is from. It is not possible at this stage to know whether it is a hoax or not”informs the operations commander.
Alerted, hundreds of parents gathered at phenomenal speed in front of the school square. “I was very scared, my cousin and my sister are inside”breathes Justine (the first name has been changed). “What a mess!”exclaims another mother, looking up at the concrete walls.
The tension was palpable, with some parents returning too close to the intervention. “I’m not putting my child here again”said an angry dad.
An intervention welcomed with empathy by the agents: “Please step back, it’s going to be okay, I’m a dad too.”said one of them to the gathering.
No intrusion confirmed
Finally, the hypothesis of intrusion was refuted by the police commissioner.
“Fortunately, the exercises put in place bore fruit with the confinement in the gym”welcomed the security assistant, Dominique Bruzzisi.
The two people taken into care by the firefighters would be a pregnant woman and a child in need of Ventolin. The day students were, for their part, evacuated, the boarders remaining at the school to eat.
“Classes will resume this afternoon for everyone”insisted the police commander.
