Victory seems increasingly distant for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. American expert Adriaan Andringa says that although Harris wins in crucial counties in swing states, she does so with smaller differences than Biden in 2020. “She may even do worse than Hillary Clinton in 2016.”
The prediction was that Harris would win the majority of votes and have a tough time in the electoral college. “But the New York Times points out that she will not get the majority of votes either.” Something that Clinton achieved despite her loss in the electoral college in 2016.
Andringa wonders whether Harris could have won at all in this campaign because she took over from President Joe Biden so late. On the other hand, according to Andringa it is not a foregone conclusion that Harris would have won in a primary election, ‘she was not that popular’. “She is part of an unpopular government that might never have gotten over the obstacle of inflation.”
