GOP Rep. Aaron Bean beat L.J. Holloway in a rematch of the pair’s first faceoff in 2022.
Bean has represented the district since it was redrawn in 2022 to include Clay County, Nassau County and the area north and west of the St. Johns River in Duval County.
His election to the House in 2022 marked the first time Black voters in Jacksonville could not elect a representative of their choice since the early 1990s, as well as the first white man and Republican to represent the area since 1992.
Bean has spent nearly 20 years in politics on the state and federal level, including 10 years in the Florida Senate prior to running for Congress.
Bean emphasized a conservative approach to policy on his campaign website, focusing on “the border crisis” and “reining in excessive spending” to address the rising cost of living in the district.
