a minute of silence and a tribute after the fatal accident

Two days after the tragic road accident, the emotions are still raw. The firefighters of Loir-et-Cher wanted to pay tribute to the two young firefighters who died, off duty, during a road trip in Pezou, near Vendôme on the night of Friday 1is to Saturday November 2, 2024.

“Touched” by the support

An Sdis 41 which was, moreover, “very touched by the many testimonies of support” following the tragedy. “We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Minister of the Interior, the Director General of Civil Security and Crisis Management, the national elected officials, as well as the local authorities including the prefect of Loir-et-Cher and the president of the departmental council, for their presence alongside us. The two 21-year-old firefighters were in a car which ended up in a tree, on the D34, route de Renay. One was a professional firefighter at the Blois-Sud fire and rescue center and a volunteer firefighter at the Pezou first intervention center (CPI). The second was a volunteer firefighter at the CPIs of Pezou and Vendôme. 

A gendarmerie investigation is still underway to clarify the circumstances of the accident, which are still unknown to this day. The Blois public prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy of the victims' bodies and toxicological analyses.
