Test of the FR-Alert device (press release) – News

Updated on 05/11/2024

FR-Alert is a new alert and information system for populations. In the event of an event, FRAlert allows anyone with a mobile phone to be notified in real time of their presence in a danger zone, in order to inform them of the behaviors to adopt to protect themselves.

Receiving the alert does not require any prior installation on the phone.

It is transmitted by two channels: an SMS and a notification (short informative message).

FR-Alert complements existing alert means (sirens, information from town halls to residents, dissemination of messages on social networks or the website of State services, press releases, etc.) and constitutes a response adapted to a wide scope of risks and threats.

The prefecture will test the FR-Alert system during two exercises:

  • November 6th in the morning, as part of a test exercise for the implementation of the specific intervention plan of the company Thalès, classified Seveso high threshold and located in the town of La-Ferté-Saint-Aubin;
  • November 12th in the morning, as part of a test exercise for the implementation of the specific intervention plan of the company VARO Energy, classified Seveso high threshold and located in the commune of -la-Rolande

As a reminder, the third test of the system was carried out on June 12 as part of an exercise testing the implementation of the specific intervention plan for the Deret logistics platform classified Seveso high threshold, located in the commune of Saran.

The alert will consist of broadcasting an information message to all mobile phones located in the fictitious “danger zone”, imagined for the exercise, and around it.

The message will not call for any action on the part of the people who received it as part of the exercise.

People driving a vehicle should under no circumstances check their phone while driving and remain vigilant.

The siren will also be triggered at the start and end of the exercise.

The Loiret prefecture invites the local population to remain vigilant regarding possible false information that could circulate on social networks, during these tests
