As the Vendée Globe village draws to a close before the big start of the race, the Vendée Department has communicated the first figures attendance at the village and official media.

Record attendance at the Village

For the first week of the village, these are 360,000 visitors who wandered between the department space, the partner stands and the pontoons.

Which represents a 20% increase in attendance in the first week compared to 2016. The 2020 edition was disrupted due to Covid-19.

“After eight years of waiting, the public's enthusiasm for the race is palpableand we had to strengthen our resources to respond to this massive influx,” comments Alain Leboeuf.

Over the entire three weeks in 2016, 1.15 million people traveled to visit the village.

Increasingly present media

For the big departure, these are, at present, 60 broadcasters planned to retransmit the signal to television.

In detail, these are 19 broadcasters in and 41 broadcasters internationally. An increase of 46% compared to the 2020 edition which had 41 broadcasters in total.

And the website has nothing to envy.

Compared to the 2020 edition, 24% more people visited the official Vendée Globe website.
