75 million Americans have already voted via email early voting

75 million Americans have already voted in the presidential election via early voting, reported The New York Times. In nine states, half of those eligible to vote cast their vote early. In North Carolina, amid the devastation of Hurricane Helene, a record was broken with 4.5 million early votes. This was also the case in Georgia with 4 million early votes.

Based on the number of early voters from past elections, experts predict that turnout for the current election will be between that of 2016 and 2020 – roughly between 60 and 67 percent. Although the expected turnout does not equal the record high of 2020 (Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden), it is still ‘historically high’ compared to all previous American elections.

In the past two elections, Democrats in particular benefited from the large turnout of early voters, but this year Donald Trump’s campaign team has also urged voters to use the early voting system. However, there is a lot of doubt among his supporters about its reliability. During the previous presidential elections, Trump repeatedly said that voting by mail would be susceptible to fraud.
