The latest polls for the US election predict a neck-and-neck race between Harris and Trump. In the final spurt there is a surprise – and a trend in the swing states.
Washington – Only a few hours remain until the US election and the big showdown between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Both opponents have given each other nothing for free in the last few months of the election campaign, have dealt with harsh tactics against their opponents and have campaigned for the voters’ favor with numerous campaigns. Before the US election, the latest polls continue to show a close neck-and-neck race between Democrats and Republicans. It is still uncertain who will ultimately win the US election and move into the White House. The signs are good that there will be an exciting competition between Harris and Trump on November 5th.
The last survey before the US election suggests a close result – Trump and Harris are tied
Current surveys on the US election have been around for months. In general, surveys in the USA should be treated with caution and individual surveys should not be given too much importance. However, they can certainly reflect a trend. For this reason, every new survey fuels speculation about the outcome of the US election, drives up betting odds or causes deep worry lines in the political camps of Harris and Trump.
A few days before the US election, the latest polls continue to point to a close result between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Both candidates therefore tried until the very end to win the favor of undecided voters during their election campaign appearances. The current vice president appeared in a comedy show, among other things, while Trump saw himself as the “father of fertilization”. However, the extent to which the respective strategies will ultimately work and influence the outcome of the US election will only become clear from Tuesday.
The latest poll on the US election sees Harris ahead of Trump in Iowa – ex-president under pressure
A final survey on the US election from the state of Iowa caused a stir on the weekend before November 5th. The survey shows that Harris is ahead of her rival Trump in the conservative state. When questioned by the regional newspaper Des Moines Register In collaboration with Mediacom Iowa Poll and the polling firm Selzer & Company, 47 percent of those surveyed wanted to vote for Harris. 44 percent would vote for Trump. Harris’ lead is within the margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
A poll for the US election in September saw Trump ahead of Harris by four percentage points. How meaningful the last poll from Iowa is is currently controversial. Another poll, also published at the weekend, sees Trump ten percentage points ahead of Harris in the state. Iowa is actually not one of these particularly competitive states this year. If Harris wins here, it would be a huge success for the Democrats.
Last survey on the US election in swing states: Trump and Harris are vying for states
A sensation in the US election in the state of Iowa for Kamala Harris would give the Democrat tailwind. For this reason, among others, the result of the US election is eagerly awaited. A final poll on the US election from Times/Siena describes the current situation in the so-called swing states. The latest polls from the New York Times and Siena College show Harris gaining new approval in North Carolina and Georgia, while former President Trump is erasing her lead in Pennsylvania and maintaining his lead in Arizona.
As the newspaper continues, it has been decades since the result of the 2024 US election could be so close in so many states in the Sun Belt and Rust Belt. According to polls, Harris is now narrowly ahead in Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin, and Trump is leading in Arizona. According to surveys, they are neck and neck in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania. However, it must be taken into account that all survey results are within the margin of error.
Survey on the US election: Close result expected – Trump is already talking about election fraud by Harris
Given the latest US election polls, it is not only likely that there could be a close result between Harris and Trump, but also that the ex-president could be the loser. Apparently the Republican is now aware of this too. How CNN reports, Trump has been using his tried-and-tested tactics for days to baselessly claim that the US election was stolen from him. Trump has repeatedly made false claims that Democrats were cheating in the election. In addition, in the run-up to election day, he distorted isolated problems with voting and exaggerated them into election fraud. Meanwhile, there are new rumors about Trump’s health because a video showed a telling scene.

A few days before the US election, Trump also made it clear: Harris could only win the election against him through fraud. “It is unfortunate that he sees his path back to the White House as a denigration of a fundamental American institution like elections,” said Ben Ginsberg, a CNN-Republican campaign staffer and attorney. After Harris’ campaign appearance, Trump completely lost his nerve.
Concern about the result of the US election: newspaper warns about Donald Trump
How dramatic the situation in the USA actually is due to the US election on November 5th is currently difficult to estimate. However, it cannot currently be ruled out that if the result of the US election is close, scenes like those in previous votes could be repeated. The New York Times has therefore warned against the Republican in clear words. An opinion piece in the newspaper warns: “Vote to end the Trump era.”
The short article, which links to numerous previous articles in the paper, says, among other things: “You already know Donald Trump. He is unsuitable to lead.” Trump is a “threat to democracy.” (fbu)
