“Episodes addressed. Attack? We will evaluate in December whether to intervene”

At the end of the race between Lazio e Cagliari valid for matchday number 11 of Serie A, the only rossoblù sporting director Nereo Bonato to appear in the press room: below are his statements.

Discontent
“My presence here is to demonstrate discontent in the management of the match and the cards, already in the first half we were with 4 cards after a correct match, with different evaluations. In the crucial 5 minutes between the penalty episode and the two double yellow cards from Mina and Adopo which penalized us, the referee did not see Mina’s foul. A decision that mattered in the end. We are asked for balance by the refereeing class, but decisions of this type then impact not only the present but also the future. We want to express our discontent calmly and serenity, but the message must get through.”

The race and the moment
“On a technical level the match was played well by the boys, we tried to keep it open until the end. I think the team’s performance should be highlighted. I believe that we are in a moment in which we need to grow and limit some mistakes, because we have come from three games in which three different defeats occurred. In Serie A the level is very high, which is why the annoyance today is both for us as a club but also for the boys. This must serve as a growth path for the entire environment. There was a sequence of episodes that seemed to be addressed. There is great regret for the final result, there is great bitterness for the future matches to be faced without important players for our staff. This is the real bitterness, we feel penalized not only for the present but also in view of the next race. The boys were very nervous and angry, but they returned to the locker room with great education and attention. Today the referee was too strict.”

Scuffet’s mistake and the attack
“Scuffet? We know that when you play you make exploits and make mistakes, it was a difficult ball in which the attacker did well to score. However, the team had a great reaction and managed to overturn the result, in my opinion it could have become a very treacherous match for Lazio along the way. We are sorry for those 5 minutes, between penalties and expulsions. As far as the attack is concerned, it is essential to get Lapadula and Pavoletti back, I think they can give us a big hand. I think the team tries to create situations, however between now and December we will understand if there will be a need to intervene. The club is attentive, but our main objective is to recover the players 100%, because with the forward relays the number of goals will certainly increase.”
