The SNCF posted a remarkable message on social networks six days before the start of the 2024 Vendée Globe in Les Sables-d'Olonne. The TER Pays de la Loire account invites spectators not to clutter the trains with objects that could help them to better see the sailboats.
The big departure is approaching and excitement is starting to build on the Atlantic coast. Six days before the start of the Vendée Globe 2024, Les Sables-d'Olonne is preparing to welcome thousands of spectators. Many will come by public transport. And faced with this massive influx, the SNCF broadcast a remarkable message on social networks this Monday.
“The enthusiasm is being felt, the trains risk being full,” warned the TER Pays de la Loire account on to avoid taking bulky objects such as stools, stepladders or ladders on trains.”
Yannick Bestaven puts his title back on the line
The tenth edition of the Vendée Globe will begin on Sunday at 1:02 p.m. Forty participants will set off on a solo round-the-world trip, without assistance and without stopover, aboard their 60-foot monohulls.
Yannick Bestaven, the winner of the previous edition, will put his title back on the line. The skipper of Maître Coq V, aged 51, won in 2021 after 80 days, 3 hours, 44 minutes and 46 seconds at sea. The record for the event belongs to Armel Le Cléac'h, who won in 2017 in 74 days, 3 hours, 35 minutes and 46 seconds.
