The situation surrounding Laura Maria Rypa and Pietro Lombardi still seems tense. After the couple had shown themselves to be very conciliatory, an important part of their careers is now at stake: DSDS.
It was the format “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” that made Pietro Lombardi, 32, known throughout Germany in 2011. A lot has happened in the singer’s life since then, most recently a serious argument with his fiancée Laura Maria Rypa dominated the headlines. The premiere of the reality show “Lights Out”, which was actually supposed to take place in Berlin on October 30, 2024, was surprisingly canceled, and RTL made a vague statement at the beginning of September. The current DSDS episodes with him as a juror will be broadcast as planned and “the developments and investigations in this matter will continue to be closely monitored”.
DSDS exit for Pietro Lombardi? “If that were the case, I would be very sad”
Reconciliation has now taken place between Lombardi and Rypa. In an interview on October 31st, the two explained that there had been a “crass argument,” and the mother of two also admitted that she was overwhelmed. The singer himself emphasized that he was “not a wife beater”. In the meantime, her everyday family life has probably returned to an almost normal routine – but Lombardi’s career still seems to be hanging by a thread.
Rumors have been doing the rounds since November 1st that the 32-year-old could lose his seat at the jury table starting with the upcoming DSDS season. Rapper Bushido, 46, is said to be the one to follow in Lombardi’s footsteps – so far, so the speculation goes. Pietro told the “Bild” newspaper that he didn’t know anything about a possible exit. And admits: “If that were the case, I would be very sad.”

Laura Maria Rypa reacts to rumors: “If it really is like that, …”
On November 3rd, Lombardi’s fiancée was also confronted with the speculation. In a question and answer session on Instagram, one person wanted to know from Rypa: “Is it true that Pietro is out of DSDS?” The mother of two reacts with a detailed statement and explains at the beginning: “To be honest, I don’t know anything about that, and as far as I know, neither does Pietro.” She emphasizes that her partner “always gave 100 percent” to the casting show, “he even canceled other projects in order to remain loyal to DSDS.” She too would find it a shame.
The mother of two also remembers “so many moments when we had planned something as a family and then suddenly a call came asking if he could step in at short notice […] could because he was needed. And he always did that not because he saw it as work, but because he valued DSDS as a partner and was always there [sic].” Finally, Rypa is cautiously optimistic: “If it really happens that he’s no longer there, I’m sure that Pietro will find his way and maybe do something of his own [sic]”.
RTL does not want to provide any specific information about Lombardi on DSDS
The Cologne broadcaster was also confronted with the rumors. Last weekend, a spokesman for the company simply told the agency “spot on news”: “We do not comment on the speculation.”
After Lombardi’s DSDS victory in 2011, the singer remained closely connected not only to Dieter Bohlen, 70, but also to the casting show itself for years. Pietro has a professional collaboration and private friendship with Bohlen. The 32-year-old has been a juror on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” since 2019.
