Raymond Domenech looks at the weaknesses of Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont.
FC Nantes conceded its second consecutive defeat in Ligue 1 by losing to Olympique de Marseille (1-2) this Sunday at La Beaujoire. If the Canaries had managed to tie the two teams before the break, after the Marseillais opened the score, a goal from Mason Greenwood in the second half allowed OM to win.
Raymond Domenech, consultant for the channel The Teamunderlined the fragility of the Nantes goalkeeper, Alban Lafont, on the English striker's shot. According to him, the Frenchman has great difficulty managing his opponents' long-range strikes.
Domenech castigates Lafont
“He’s always been like that. He doesn't dive, he falls. He looks like a goalie from 1920, diving sideways. Great times? If he has balloons high up, yes he will look for them. But on the ground, on target… He’s still in difficulty”observed the former coach of the France team.
Domenech, who briefly coached FC Nantes between 2020 and 2021, says he already noticed these shortcomings in Lafont at the time. “I saw him for a month and a half when I was in Nantes, we conceded a few goals like that. 25 meters, balls rolling in corners and too short, Rantanplan every time »he concluded.
