“I still found him just as handsome!”, assures Aël Pagny.
On November 6, Aël Pagny, the daughter of Florent Pagny, will release his first book, “Pagny par Aël”. In this work, the young woman reveals photos of her father taken during his “60s tour”, brutally interrupted by the cancer in January 2022. At the time, the singer saw his illness as a “switch“. “He called it that because when we learn of the existence of the disease, it puts a pause in our daily lives”explains the 25-year-old young woman in Audrey Crespo-Mara's portrait of the week, broadcast this Sunday evening in “Sept à Huit” on TF1. “It interrupts everything we’re doing and we move on to another adventure that we didn’t want to experience.”. But Aël continues to photograph her father when she can, while avoiding immortalizing the most painful moments.
“Not long ago he had an exam and everything is fine”
She particularly remembers a particularly busy photo shoot, at Mont-Saint-Michel. “We did this session because he was going to do the lives of 'The Voice,' and he decided that he wanted to show his new appearance to the public before the lives, so that it wouldn't be, perhaps, too shocking for everyone”she says. “I didn't see the sick man, I just took a photo of my dad. I think that reassured him. The change in appearance came as a shock to him, as he was unhappy about losing his beard, mustache and hair. I still thought he was just as handsome! “It’s a change of look that he didn’t choose, but he’s done so much in his life that it’s another one for the collection.”
Today, Florent Pagny “doing very well”assures her daughter. “Not long ago he had an exam and everything is fine. We're waiting for the next one in three months, but for now we're happy”. And if he “There is always hope” to put an end to the disease once and for all, she adds: “We know it's not realistic. We know it can come back at any timeso we live in the present, we don't think about what could happen. We're happy, everything is going well.”
