Since the night of violence on October 31 in Rillieux-la-Pape, twelve people have been arrested in the municipalities of Rillieux, Givors and Saint-Fons.
The weekend was hectic in the Metropolis of Lyon. On the night of October 31, two TCL buses were set on fire and several police officers were targeted by a “twenty people” who would have stoned them. One of the police officers was injured in the face. According to information from Le Progrès, confirmed by Lyon Capitale, no less than twelve people were arrested between Thursday and Sunday in Rillieux-la-Pape, Givors, Grigny and Saint-Fons.
Wild barbecue, fires…
A wild barbecue on Avenue Général Leclerc, for example, required the intervention of the police. The police reportedly asked several individuals to leave the scene, but they refused. A Rilliard was referred to the Lyon public prosecutor's office on Sunday for contempt and rebellion. Two others will be this Monday for contempt.
A few hours later, the two TCL buses were set on fire. The perpetrators have not yet been identified, but this violence has sparked outrage. The mayor of the commune, Alexandre Vincent, declared in particular that he “will not back down or give in to such behavior”. And to add: “Faced with such individuals, there is no excuse, no justification, no understanding to be had. The Republic's responses must be strong and determined”. The mayor also asks “the systematic exclusion of the perpetrators of such types of acts from all national solidarity, including social housing”.
