The death of 56-year-old journalist, host and columnist Herby Moreau sparked an outpouring of love on social networks.
“It is with sadness that we learned of the death of the host and cultural journalist Herby Moreau,” indicated the Union of Artists (UDA) on its Facebook page on Sunday evening. The cause of death is not yet known.
Of Haitian origin, Herby Moreau arrived in Quebec at the age of 5. It was after studying journalism in France that he became a journalist at TQS in 1997. He took a liking to the small screen and became a real “star hunter” and a regular on the red carpets. For several years he hosted cult shows Star system et Star Académie auditionsamong others.
Several public figures took to social networks to convey their condolences to the family and recount the memories they have of the experienced host. “I’m in shock. He was our neighbor in Old Montreal, the class he had on the red carpets also translated into the streets of our neighborhood,” wrote Liberal MP Marwah Rizqy on X a few minutes after the announcement of his death .
“What sudden and sad news. Nicknamed “The Star Hunter”, Herby quickly made his mark on the red carpets and brought us closer to our stars. My thoughts are with those close to Herby Moreau,” said Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante.
Other public figures, such as the interim leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec, Marc Tanguay, and the former leader of the same party, Dominique Anglade, have made a publication on their respective pages, as have many artists in the field who were keen to highlight the career of the “friend of the stars”.
The UDA's Facebook post received hundreds of comments from fans within minutes. They remembered their favorite moment of his television career or took the opportunity to pay tribute to him with a few words.
