Real chaos from start to finish. Initially scheduled for this Saturday, qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix, counting for the Formula 1 world championship, was moved to this Sunday, due to the heavy rain that fell on the region. This Sunday, on the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo, the session took place, but with, at the start, particularly reduced visibility and a wet track. At the finish, it was Lando Norris, at the wheel of his McLaren, who did perfectly well, to the extent that he signed a new pole position this season. The Briton will be ahead of his compatriot George Russell, a resident of the Mercedes team, on the front row. On the second row, we will find the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda (Racing Bulls) as well as the Frenchman Esteban Ocon (Alpine). The latter's compatriot and teammate, Pierre Gasly, finished fifteenth in this session. This session was particularly eventful, to the extent that no less than five red flags were brought out.

Five red flags were brought out

Several drivers experienced spectacular crashes, such as Lance Stroll, who was then unable to participate in Q3, then Fernando Alonso and, finally, Alexander Albon, who completely destroyed his car and could well miss the Grand Prix in a few hours . Norris, currently second in the standings of the world championship in the specialty, will fight at a distance with the leader, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, resident of the Austrian Red Bull team. The latter, who set the twelfth best time, however did not manage to pass Q2, like his Mexican teammate Sergio Perezand will start in 17th position, after being penalized five places for having changed an element of his engine. Earlier, Q1 had been fatal to drivers like the Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), while the Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr (Ferrari) did not make it through Q2. The Grand Prix will take place at 4:30 p.m. French time.
