Coming from Lyon or Amiens, its visitors discovered another side of the resistance fighter, with emotion.
Among the dozen visitors, some owe their coming to Béziers to curiosity about the figure of Jean Moulin, like this couple from Lyon: “We are at the other end of Jean Moulin’s story and we have come to discover another side. We have learned a lot of information about his family, his origin, his dynamics.”
Colette lives in Béziers and decided to revisit the apartment she had already seen before its renovation: “I have no regrets, we know the resistant Jean Moulin but his artistic side is little known. He is a real artist and he had to struggle at school. He saw further, had a very developed capacity to understand, a keen eye on the world, on humanity, he received a lot of love, it was an important foundation, even if the father could be rigid.
“It’s exceptional to be able to see his drawings”
A teacher in Amiens, Fanny came to Béziers specifically to visit the apartment and the Daniel Cordier library: “The visit takes place from the perspective of the stories of Laure, the sister, it is relevant and touching. We are in an intimate dimension, even if the furniture is not period, there is care in the way of retracing history. What I take away from this visit are the links between art, history and the story of intimate life. It makes me think of the phrase: d.Behind every great man there is a great woman. Whether it's the mother or the sister, we understand that they were fundamental.” she said, as won over as her companion, Stéphane, a historian: “The artistic side of Jean Moulin is rarely developed, except here, in Béziers, it is exceptional to be able to see his drawings”.
