Floods in Spain: King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia pay their respects near Valencia
SPAIN – The sovereigns at the scene of the tragedy. King Felipe VI and his wife, Queen Letizia, arrived this Sunday, November 3, early in the afternoon in Paiporta, near Valencia, one of the cities most bereaved by the tragic floods which ravaged the south this week. -east of the country.
As seen in images from national television (TVE), they are accompanied by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. They must then go to Chiva, another town near Valencia hard hit by this tragedy, which has already left at least 214 dead.
Their visit comes as the Spanish meteorological agency (Aemet) has issued a new orange alert for heavy rains in the Valencia region, particularly in the Valencian conurbation, where 100 liters of water per square meter (i.e. 10 cm).
A red alert has also been issued for the province of Almeria, in Andalusia (south), due to “torrential rains” likely to cause “floods”according to Aemet, which recommends that residents only travel in the event of “strict necessity”.
