residents intervene violently to stop a rave party

The rave party organized since Friday November 1st 2024 in an unoccupied logistics building, Brie (Ille-et-Vilaine), near Janzé, turned into a settling of scores between partygoers and local residents, exasperated by the noise of the illegal gathering.

According to Codis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Operational Center), 14 people affected by these clashes were taken care of by emergency services.

« Eight people had to be evacuated to the hospital for minor injuries », Informs the Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture in a press release this Sunday morning.

Several dozen people from the community of travelers, present near the event, would be involved in this violence, reports Ouest-.

Complaints had been filed the day before by local residents.

End of the gathering Sunday morning

Up to 3,000 ravers were present at the height of the event, organized near the - dual carriageway, despite the prefectural decree prohibiting “unauthorized festive gatherings of a musical nature”, from Thursday October 31 to Monday November 4.

This Sunday morning, after this night marked by clashes, the prefecture announced the end of this gathering.

The prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine, Amaury de Saint-Quentin, also asked “people who are still on site to show responsibility by leaving the premises for the safety of all, and to strictly apply the instructions of the gendarmerie.”

An important safety feature

90 gendarmes of the department supported by reinforcements from Morbihan and Côtes-d'Armor were on site to “secure the surroundings of the site, manage the traffic routes and prevent any incidents with local residents”, specifies the prefecture.

Teams of rescuers from the departmental civil protection association and the Red Cross also came to support the80 firefighterspresent on the site.

“The organizers put the participants in danger”

The prefect indicates that she condemns “with the greatest firmness the organizers of this rave party”.

Through their casualness and irresponsibility, the organizers endangered the participants, local residents, motorists and the security and emergency forces, both on the site and on the traffic routes.

The latter also recalls that each event of this type must be declared to the prefecture “in order to guarantee security, health, sanitation, hygiene and public tranquility”.
